How to send a parcel: step by step

What can you send — and what is prohibited?
Allowed: clothes and shoes, cosmetics and perfume (sealed, up to 500 ml), food and sweets, children’s items, books, souvenirs, household goods.
Food is welcome — up to 5 kg of food per parcel, nothing past its expiry date. Cheese, prosciutto, salami and other cured meats are fine, but only vacuum-sealed: the parcel travels about two weeks without refrigeration, so anything perishable without vacuum packaging won’t survive the trip.
Prohibited: alcohol and tobacco, weapons, liquids (except sealed perfume up to 500 ml), prescription medicines, lithium batteries shipped separately from devices, cash and securities, seeds and plants, perishable food without vacuum packaging. Customs in Turkmenistan: what to expect
Turkmenistan is not part of the EAEU customs union, so national customs rules for personal shipments apply. Our practical advice: keep the declared value at around €200 per parcel per recipient and always include a packing list. If the value is higher, the parcel may be selected for inspection and customs may charge the recipient a duty on the excess (typically 15% of the amount above the threshold, with a minimum of €2 per kg).
