How much does it cost to send a parcel from Italy to Russia?

Shipping a 5 kg parcel from Italy to Russia costs €49.95 to a post office or €54.95 by EMS courier to the door. The minimum billable weight is 5 kg (lighter boxes are charged as 5 kg); the maximum per box is 30 kg on the Standard tariff and 31 kg with EMS courier. Live prices from our calculator:

WeightStandard (to post office)EMS courier (to the door)

How it works: step by step

The whole process takes you about 20 minutes of actual effort — everything bureaucratic is done by us. Here is the full path from your kitchen table in Italy to your family’s door in Russia:

  1. Get in touch. Message us on WhatsApp with what you are sending and the recipient’s address in Russia. We help you pick the tariff — Standard (pickup at the local post office) or EMS courier to the door.
  2. Pack the box and write a contents list. Use a sturdy cardboard box, sealed with tape (no travel bags — they tear during sorting and void the insurance). Put a printed list inside: each item with its approximate value in euros, e.g. “women’s jacket — €120, perfume 50 ml — €80”. Send the same list to us in WhatsApp — in any language, we translate it ourselves.
  3. Drop the box off. Bring it to a partner drop-off point near you, or request a free shipping label and hand the box in at your nearest Poste Italiane or partner tabaccheria. The truck to Russia leaves every Tuesday — to catch the next departure, drop off your parcel 24–36 hours before.
  4. We do the paperwork, you pay. BPD Express prepares the CN23 customs declaration, the export declaration and the invoice — you do not write a single line in Italian. Payment in euros only: card, Apple Pay, SEPA transfer or cash at the drop-off point.
  5. Track it to the door. You receive a tracking number (starting with “b…”) in WhatsApp. Statuses arrive automatically: accepted, in transit, cleared customs, delivered. You can also enter the number in the tracking form at the top of our website.

How long does delivery take?

A parcel from Italy to Russia arrives in 10–15 days by EMS courier to the door, or 15–20 days to the recipient’s post office. The clock starts when the truck leaves Milan — departures to Russia run every Tuesday. In peak periods (December, before New Year) Russian customs can add a few days, so plan holiday parcels early.

What can you send — and what about Italian food?

You can send clothes, shoes, cosmetics, toys, books, household goods — and yes, Italian food, up to 5 kg of food per parcel. Cheese and cured meats (prosciutto, salami, coppa) travel fine, but only vacuum-sealed: the parcel spends about two weeks on the road without refrigeration, so anything perishable without vacuum packaging will not survive the trip.

Not allowed: liquids (except sealed perfume up to 500 ml), prescription medicines, weapons, lithium batteries shipped separately from devices, cash and securities. Original documents (passports, diplomas) go by a separate procedure — a registered international letter at a flat €50, delivered by EMS courier in 10–15 days. Not sure about a specific item? Send us the contents list on WhatsApp and we check it before you ship.

Customs: the €200 duty-free allowance

Russia is part of the EAEU customs union, so parcels up to €200 in value and 31 kg in weight enter duty-free — the recipient pays nothing. Sending something worth more than €200 is perfectly fine too: the recipient simply pays a duty of 15% on the amount above the threshold (minimum €2 per kg of the excess). No surprises: show us your contents list before drop-off and we calculate any duty in advance.

All Italian export formalities — the CN23 declaration, the export document, the invoice — are prepared by BPD Express. Fewer than 1% of our parcels are ever refused at customs.

Yes. BPD Express has been recognized by the Universal Postal Union since 2003 and operates its own International Postal Exchange Point, so parcels travel as international postal items under the Universal Postal Convention. For Russia and Belarus the EU restricts certain specific categories (sanctioned and dual-use goods) — ordinary personal items like clothing, cosmetics, children’s goods and food are not affected. If you are unsure about anything in your box, send the contents list to WhatsApp and we verify it before shipping.

Insurance and payment

Every parcel is automatically insured up to €100 against loss and transport damage — included in the price. Sending something more valuable? Extended coverage costs €1 for each additional €100 of declared value, up to a €2,000 maximum. Compensation is paid according to your contents list — one more reason to fill it in properly.

Payment is in euros only: Visa/Mastercard, Apple Pay, SEPA transfer or cash at the drop-off point. No rubles, no crypto.
